Take the route from Perth, traveling north-east, through the Swan Valley and along the Great Northern Highway and arrive in Bindoon in only 60 minutes. Once the highway is reached the view is of open farmland and natural bush.
When you’ve made yourself at home, stand on the terrace and
marvel at the enormous sky over the house. A huge, high expanse
of blue with clouds swirling overhead till they meet the green
and gold undulating hills. The colours in the landscape catch
your eye, the soft purple lavender swathed around the house,
the shimmering silver of the olive leaves and the thick, evergreen
foliage in the oranges trees. Many say the colours are reminiscent
of Tuscany.
Straight rows of citrus line up across the six-acre property,
interspersed with outcrops of granite, marri gums and native
grass trees. Seasonal fruit trees make for an exotic mix and
you may like to identify the different species. You’ll find
quince, plum, fig trees, apricots, cherries, pears, nectarines,
mulberries, mandarins, lemons and limes, and even a lemonade
tree. Help yourself to oranges to squeeze some fresh juice and
take a bag of produce with you to share on the drive home.
Be intrigued by the eclectic mix of furniture and objects in
the The Villa. Some pieces, like the limestone columns and rusty
iron urns, are classically inspired, whilst others, the old
carpenter’s bench which stands in the centre of the kitchen
for example, are character pieces acquired locally. You can
probably imagine that all the pieces have a history and come
with an intriguing story
After dark, the night sky is spectacular so let the 'Milky
Way' illuminate your alfresco meal on the terrace and be refreshed
by the balmy summer breeze.
There are many outdoor activities in the region but it may be the beauty of the landscape or sound of birdsong that makes your stay at The Villa a memorable country experience.
